Royal AM sale reports, then Nascimento case…

Royal AM's proposed sale will come with the club still carrying the burden of unpaid dues emanating from FIFA cases which have left them bleeding with transfer bans.

Thursday came with reports claiming that a KwaZulu-Natal businessman has placed a bid to buy the franchise for R35 million.

This was after the club was placed under the hammer in the aftermath of falling under curatorship.

The completion of this sale remains subject to approval by the PSL's Executive Committee.

With all the turmoil at the KZN outfit, they have not played any games this year and have been booted out of the Nedbank Cup and DStv Diski Challenge, but players reported back for training on Thursday.

How Royal AM will be able to fulfil their 19 fixtures remaining is unknown with only eight weeks left before the season ends.

Meanwhile, the club's bill in the case relating to Ricardo Nascimento is still unsettled.

The Brazilian took up his contract dispute against Royal AM to FIFA in 2023 after failed attempts to resolve the matter amicably with the club at the end of his 15-month stay.

The world governing body then ruled in favour of Nascimento with an award of R600 000 (effective September 2023 with an interest of 5% per annum).

Four months later, Royal AM still didn't comply with the FIFA ruling which ordered them to pay and were thus then subsequently handed a three-window transfer ban on January 15, 2024.

Nascimento's legal team told this website that there have been no further developments on the matter and payment remains due with interest as per FIFA's award.

The agent who negotiated Nascimento's deal – Marcelo Robalinho – also entered the fray in complicating the case with a claim of 6% commission which he wasn't paid when the Brazilian moved from Mamelodi Sundowns to Royal AM at the beginning of 2022.

Robalinho claims he had an agreement to be paid his fees by the club.

Royal AM have another case for a significantly bigger amount relating to Samir Nurkovic also still hanging.
