Truter: I can't be bitter with this result

Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter says he is proud of the objectives achieved by the team this season following their Nedbank Cup heartbreak.

Babina Noko made a buoyant opening and had the front-foot though lapses at either end of both halves saw their dream to land a maiden top-flight silverware evaporate.

It was the second meeting in the manner of weeks between Pirates and Sekhukhune, with Truter excited to head into the recess and hope his counterpart Jose Riveiro wins the coach of the season accolade.

"Just want to say thank you God for the opportunity, and then well done to the boys for the efforts. Not much comment about the game or anything for that matter. Every day you wake up with expectations and at the end of the day you go to sleep with the experience that you picked up," Truter told SuperSport TV.

"So, we happy. Good effort we had in our sight. I think we were in stages a better structured and organized team and that's big up to the guys and give credit to the almighty and say thank you for the boys other than like I said good game of football.

"This is us. I think in the league game it was different because we had to manage suspensions, injuries but this is us. That's why I'm excited to go into the break, recover, comeback and get the core right.

"Add some players in one or two positions then we'll be a force to reckon with. I'm actually proud of the objectives achieved this season and I can't be bitter about this result.

"Well done to Pirates, second cup for the coach nominee for the coach of the season and hopefully he gets it this year. But well done and congratulations to Pirates," Truter said.

Turning attention to next campaign, the aim should be to have a plan mapped out which should indicate a good structure and performances in addition to sorting the balance in the team.

"Look, there's so many things we can take from this season. We have to get it right and sit down to formulate a good plan for next season. But this was us. It was us all the time, it's just people don't see it," he added.

"But definitely, definitely we'll be up there and about next season. Good performances, good structure but we have to sit down, see what's available get the balance right in the squad as well.

"Today, two mistakes and we got punished. I mean, we're out on transition in that one move and the ball ended up in the back of our net so it could've gone either but well done again and congratulations to Pirates."
