BREAKING | Sekhukhune United sign Sundowns star

Sekhukhune United have announced the signing of midfielder Siphesihle Mkhize from Mamelodi Sundowns as Brandon Truter continues to strengthen his side.

The highly-rated 24-year-old joins Babina Noko on a three-year-deal. The Sundowns academy graduate has had loan spells with Ajax Cape Town and Chippa United where he spent the last two seasons.

"I'm very excited to to be at Sekhukhune United. I'm here to learn and to grow as a person," Mkhize told the club's media.

The signing of Mkhize represents a signal of intent from the Nedbank Cup semi-finalists preparing for their first season of continental football in the CAF Confederations Cup.

In addition to Mkhize, Sekhukhune have also signed former Maritzburg United goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner and SuperSport United's Jamie Craig Webber. Academy graduates Thabo Nkwana and Riba Cross have been promoted to the first team.

Babina Noko kick-off their DStv Premiership season with a clash against defending champions Sundowns on Friday, 4 August at New Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Sekhukhune United Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Siphesihle Elwin Mkhize from Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of the 2023/24 DSTV Premiership season on a three-year deal.

Born in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal on the 5th of February 1999, Mkhize (24) started his football career with Mamelodi Sundown's Academy in 2013. He was promoted to the senior team in 2019 but was often loaned out to gain experience.

After spending the 2019/20 season at Ajax Cape Town FC on loan, the defensive midfielder was then loaned to Chippa United where he spent the last two seasons, amassing 33 league starts during that period.

"Siphe" as he is affectionately known, has represented the National Under 20 in 2019 Africa Cup of Nations held in Niger and U20 World Cup in Poland. He was also part of the Cosafa squad in 2020.

Mkhize revealed that he is looking forward to the exciting new season ahead. He has promised the "Babina Noko" fans that he will do his best to ensure that the club stays where it belongs
