‘Stillbirth’ for PSL striker’s Algerian move

Nigerian striker Chibuike Ohizu's move from Sekhukhune United has suffered a stillbirth following failure to reach an agreement over his transfer fee.

Ohizu has for weeks been the subject of a move to Algerian champions MC Alger who had identified him after failing to land Oswin Appollis.

The matter at hand in Ohizu's proposed transfer to MC Alger was money prior to the dead end reached with the close of the Algerian transfer window on Tuesday night.

This website has gathered that several amounts have been thrown around as the fee that Sekhukhune want.

The upwards demands have turned off MC Alger while those in Egypt and Morocco that have sought to find out what it will take to do a transfer have asked and then turned their backs.

Options in Egypt remain alive with the window still open for several more weeks, but the transfer fee is what could be a hindrance.

In the meanwhile, Ohizu has travelled to Angola with Sekhukhune where they have a CAF Confederation Cup second qualifying round tie against Clube Desportivo da Lunda Sul on Saturday.

Of interest is that the 27-year-old is in the last year of his current contract and will be eligible to sign a pre-contract elsewhere in January.

Sekhukhune have proposed a new three-year deal.

Ohizu scored nine goals last season and has spent four years at Sekhukhune having joined them while they were in the first division.

The Nigerian striker started out at the Future of Africa Academy in 2015 then moved to Leruma United before he was signed by Jomo Cosmos in 2018.

After two years with Ezenkosi, he then moved to Sekhukhune United where he has played up to now.
