Seema: We should've finished the game in the first half

Sekhukhune United head coach Lehlohonolo Seema believes they should have taken the game away from Kaizer Chiefs in the first half after they conceded late to draw 1-1.

Sekhukhune broke the deadlock just before the break through Elias Mokwana but they could not hold on to the three points as Chiefs equalised nine minutes before time courtesy of Ranga Chivaviro.

"I think we should have finished this game in the first-half, if you don't take your chances that we got in the first-half, Chiefs will always come back, if you're not scoring you are giving them hope," Seema told SuperSport TV.

"But when you're scoring and scoring they become desperate, they open even more spaces. I think the guys did well, we fought. I think tactically, especially first half, we stuck to the tactics, we managed to press.

"We made a few pressing traps, of which I think one we should have taken. But credit must also go to their goalkeeper, I think he also helped them in the first-half," he said.

"Second-half you understand that the game will open up, they will have chances, we'll have chances. Then it's one of those games that you say, we're trying to hold on to it because we wanted this three points but ja you can see they changed the structure."

Seema went on and revealed that in the second-half they wanted to hold out for a 1-0 win and after making defensive changes, that affected their attacking game after they conceded.

"But ja I think we need this rest, it's not the results that we wanted but I think the rest is what we need. We'll go recharge and come back, we'll have to fight, there's still a lot of games to play," he said.

"Second-half we were supposed to come and manage the game but it's one of those games, credit must go to the players. I think they fought, the effort you can't faulter them for effort.

"It's one of those games we conceded when we thought we could hold on, we were even still thinking of strengthening the defence because they were bringing a lot of players inside but conceded," he continued.

"And when you concede, it changes everything, we had one striker. You take out one striker and you reinforce (at the back), it's one of them," he added.
