Bapela served as technical team director for Sekhukhune whilst still playing in the lower division. '

'Barnes' as Bapela was affectionately known during his heydays at Sundowns, was part of Dondol Stars in the ABC Motsepe League before his resignation this week to join the Limpopo-based side.

According to a source close to Sekhukhune United, Bapela will work closely with both the DStv Diski Challenge side and senior teams.

"Barnes is back, but this time in a much bigger role in the club. He knows and understands the culture of the team. His presence will also help with our DDC team," said the official at Sekhukhune United.

Meanwhile, the DStv Premiership match between Sekhukhune United and Stellenbosch FC which was set for the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Limpopo has been postponed to a later date. Sekhukhune is yet to arrive in the country after playing their CAF Confederations Cup match against Stade Malien in Mali on Wednesday.
