Sekhukhune to sign Sundowns-linked star?

DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United are closing in on a potential new signing to bolster their defence following a controversial 2-1 defeat to Moroka Swallows on Wednesday.

Sources have revealed to KickOff that highly-regarded defender Ryan Baartman has now signed for Babina Noko.

The centre-back represented Motsepe Foundation Championship side All stars last season before the club's second-tier status was purchased by Black Leopards.

The transfer is a permanent move after a protracted battle for the player's clearance.

According to Transfermarkt, Baartman only made two appearances last season.

The 25-year-old was previously linked with Kaizer Chiefs in 2022 while Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates were also tipped as potential suitors last season, as per Soccer Laduma.

Brandon Truter's side have already signed a number of players from the lower division.

Sekhukhune United signed Tiklas Thutlwa from Black Leopards, Kgothatso Mariba from Venda Football Academy and Thabang Mnyembane from Dondol Stars earlier in the transfer window.

Babina Noko's defence was criticised after their 5-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 quarter finals.
