Truter delighted with passage to Nedbank Cup semis

Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter was full of praise and delighted with the performance from his team after advancing to the final of the Nedbank Cup on Sunday.

Babina Noko held Stellenbosch FC at bay for 120 minutes of regulation action before going on to clinch the tie through the dreaded penalty shoot-out.

It is the Limpopo side's first major cup final since their promotion to the big-time last season and will face Orlando Pirates in two weeks' time at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

"I'm just grateful for what God is doing in this team. Giving him all the glory, praise and worship. I love him so much. I love my players as well and we faced so many struggles this week in terms of preparations, in terms of flu, in terms of injuries, in terms of fatigue," Truter said after the game.

"But a lot of prayer and God shows up when you need him most and for the players as well it was a massive effort coming here.

Shutting Stellenbosch out, and then we also created some chances against them. But for me, it's into the final." he added.

Sekhukhune do face Pirates this Saturday in the DStv Premiership, and the sole aim now is to secure their spot in the top eight which will ensure participation in next season's MTN8.

"It means a lot to the club as well. In terms of the first cup final. It also guarantees us a spot in Africa which is another challenge as well which we haven't prepared for, but again God made the call to qualify.

"He qualifies the unqualified so it's another challenge to look forward to. But we have Pirates next week. We still want to secure our top eight spots, so that's our focus now. But great effort from the guys and congratulations to the players," Truter stated.
