‘You can’t be dictatorial all the time’

Brandon 'Brakkies' Truter believes Friday evening's clash with his hometown club Cape Town Spurs has all the ingredients of producing a Nedbank Cup thriller.

Sekhukhune United will play as the hosts this evening in the Nedbank Cup last 16 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium (19h30).

"It will be a tough match considering the form that Cape Town Spurs is in plus I know them well having played for them as a youth," says Truter.

"The two coaches in charge there are my close friends Shaun Bartlett and Nasief Morris.

"It is a competition that we want to do well in.

"Cape Town Spurs possess some very good players, (Boitumelo) Radiopane, (Ashley) Cupido, Morne Nel, (Leo) Thethani and so their movement tends to be energetic, and we have to be mindful about that.

"Then they have players who have won a lot of things like Clayton Daniels, Nazier Allie, Granwald Scott, Morne Nel, Michael Morton, Jarrod Moroole

"There is so much experience in that team and at this moment we have to take of the experience and the energy of the youth.

"We are mindful of that it is a team that wants promotion, and we want can't be complacent because I know Shaun and Nasief will want to compete on both fronts," says Truter adding how he has gone about his duties at Sekhukhune.

Truter has overseen 11 games since taking over in November with considerable progress made by the team after winning six.

"We must be democratic in terms of players understanding the tactics and getting them to buy in.

"You can't be dictatorial all the time because with experienced at times they have their own ideas," he notes.
