Jele reveals in the latest edition of KICK OFF magazine that he could easily have been an Amakhosi player today rather than a Bucs legend, if his career had gone according to the initial plan.
“That is a tricky one!” he admits in Issue 475. “But let me be honest with you … yes, I thought I would be signed by Chiefs at that time, but things didn’t work out for me and Pirates came through for me…”

Meanwhile, Jele tells snl24.com/kickoff how Walter Mokoena helped him land a move to Pirates from Walter Stars a decade ago.
“Walter [Mokoena] was the team owner and was my manager at that time. He did a great job for me and I am very honoured to know him … and he’s been part of my life since then until now,” Jele says.
“We are still talking, he is my brother … I will say he is my brother because every time I need him he is there. I talk to him and get advice from him all the time. He was the one who was helping to get where I am today. I’m grateful and I’m blessed to know him.
“I would also like to thank Jazzman [Mahlakgane] for everything that he has done for me since taking over as my manager. He has been good to me all these years.”
