Issa Sarr pleads for Orlando Pirates fans to be patient

Eric Tinkler’s side have struggled in the Absa Premiership following an inspired CAF Confederation Cup campaign last year, in which they went all the way to the final before losing 2-1 on aggregate to Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel.

Bucs are currently down in 11th place, with 16 points from 14 games, following their sixth defeat of the league campaign to Jomo Cosmos last weekend, which has become one of their worst starts to a season since the inception of the PSL.

The Senegalese hardman understands the frustrations the Buccaneers faithful are going through at the moment, but guarantees them that the players are working tirelessly to remedy the situation.

“I think this [difficult times] sometimes happens with the big teams, where things don’t go well, it’s not only us it happens around the whole world,” argued Sarr at the club’s media day earlier on Tuesday.

“If you watch soccer, you’ll see it sometimes happens with other big teams, but we just want to tell them [the fans] to be patient, we’re working hard towards winning.

“You see where we are on the log and it doesn’t suit us as we know Pirates are always on top, and we’re working hard to get there … we just want to say them they must be patient and look forward to the Derby game.”

Pirates host arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs in their second round Absa Premiership Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 15h30.
