Amakhosi will host their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in South Africa's marquee fixture tomorrow, with Mashamaite excited for the 15h30 kick-off at FNB Stadium.
“I am happy, feeling energised,” Mashamaite said on his club's website when asked if he is feeling the pressure.
“Pressure is for people without money, always wondering where their next food will come from. People come to cheer us, to motivate us. That’s not pressure, that’s a wonderful experience.”
Chiefs, who edged Ajax Cape Town 1-0 in midweek, are in prime position to dethrone Mamelodi Sundowns of their PSL title as they enjoy a 10-point lead at the summit with nine games to go.
'Masha' says the team draws confidence from their form this season, having also claimed MTN8 honours with a 1-0 defeat of Bucs in the Final.
“We have had a great journey so far this season. As a result of this, there is very positive spirit in the camp.”
The former Bidvest Wits skipper added: “The Derby is about pride. We ask the supporters to back us up, even if things don’t always go our way. We know what is at stake. There is so much love to get out of this.”
