Khumalo has pushed out the more experienced Masilela from the starting line-up for the last five games that Chiefs have played, all of which they have won.
With two left-backs of such quality how does Komphela handle the situation?
“I think it is down to teammate and understanding clearly what we want to achieve,” says Komphela.
“But one must quickly mention that Tsepo is a hell of a good player. S’bu was brought in and he got in nicely. You still have Tsepo who at any given time we can play, though you have to compliment the fact that Sbu has gone in and done well.”
Not only does Komphela have decisions to make down the left side of his defence he has also some midfield options that he must weight up, especially with the Soweto Derby on the horizon this weekend.
Veteran midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala has made all of his appearances from the bench to date. But being the most experienced player for the flagship fixture of domestic football does he remain on the bench?
Will Bernard Parker also be kept on the bench?
Now that Keagan Buchanan is fit to play again does he partner Willard Katsande in midfielde?
Does Lewis Macha get a run from the start?
“'Shabba' (Tshabalala) has been out for four months and at the back of that you have had (Hendrick) Ekstein playing at number 10. In wide we have had 'Giza' (George Lebese) and you have got (Edmore) Chirambadare and (William) Twala.
“So it tells you that when you are coming in at the back of an injury it is just not easy, though it gives you great comfort that everybody who comes in does exactly that. That is all down to team spirit and we are delighted that we are there, which is why we say we need to manage the inside pressure.
“There has to be harmony because at the back of harmony you get good team spirit and you get results and that is what we are trying to manage,” says Komphela.
