Amakhosi, who drew 1-1 with Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates on the weekend, are 10 points adrift of log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns after 16 games.
Komphela, however, pointed out how the Brazilians were able to overturn a 12-point deficit in their late charge to Absa Premiership honours in 2013/14.
“It’s not over yet,” Komphela is quoted as saying by the club's website
“Two years ago, we were, at some stage, 12 points ahead of Sundowns, but they won the league title with an advantage of two points. There is no reason why something like this can’t happen again.”
Meanwhile, Komphela felt his team had the better chances to win their 158th meeting with Pirates.
“We played some good football. We deserved the first-half lead and it was a pity we conceded a soft goal after the break.
“We were physically okay but we let ourselves down at times with the decision-making especially to deliver the right pass.
“Overall, however, we had better chances to win the game,” added the former Free State Stars boss, who was unimpressed with the officiating at FNB Stadium.
