Kaizer Chiefs legend Lucas Radebe describes Ernst Middendorp's substitution as 'poor decision making'

Chiefs were leading 1-0 when Middendorp brought on Zimbabwean international Katsande on for Castro in the 66th minute, giving Pirates defenders less to worry about as the Colombian forward was keeping them busy with his runs and ability to hold up play.

When Castro went off, Chiefs were no longer a threat to Pirates who began to take control of the game and eventually equalised through Theminkosi Lorch with a cool finish as the game finished 1-1.

“For me I think it’s poor decision making in terms of the coaching.”

Both side missed out on an opportunity to close in on Absa Premiership log leaders Bidvest Wits, who were beaten 2-1 by Highlands Park at Makhulong Stadium on Saturday.

“I was disappointed because I thought there would be a winner. It would bring a different atmosphere in terms of the league [race], especially for Chiefs.”

Pirates are third on the standings on 33 points, four behind the Clever Boys, while Chiefs are in fifth place on 28 points.
