Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates fans organise friendly ahead of Soweto Derby

The Soweto Derby takes centre stage on Saturday afternoon, but to add to the excitement the fans from both clubs have decided to challenge each other on the field.

“We are going to have a match between the fans. The match will start at 11:00 on the ground opposite the main entrance to the stadium, so that is a few hours before the main game,” one of Chiefs’ biggest fans Masilo Machaka tells this website.

“I will be playing as well and my friend Dejan [Miladinovic], who of course is a big Pirates fan, will be coaching the Pirates team. The reason we are doing this is because we want to encourage fans to come early to the stadium. So except for the entertainment that has been organised by the club, fans have more to look forward to.

“So they can come in to watch the match at 11h00 and move over to the main stadium for more entertainment before the main game. Thank you to the FNB Stadium management for allowing us to play there.

“So some of the fans that people always see at the stadium will be playing and we just want to show them that we don’t only blow vuvuzelas. We also play football all the time so the fans from both clubs can come and enjoy the match,” he adds.
