Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker ready for Soweto Derby battle with Orlando Pirates

“You don’t wanna make mistakes in such games and I’m a die-hard player for Kaizer Chiefs so if things don’t go my way I work very hard. I make sure I work on the defensive part and if I step wrong I have to get penalised, but I think that’s just the name of the game,” he tells this website.

However, Parker acknowledges that it will be a tricky fixture for Chiefs because Pirates are battling for form at the moment.

“That’s the danger that we face. This can be the game for Orlando Pirates to turn things around. If they get a positive result it could just turn things around for them going into their League matches and their [CAF] final. [But] we’ve been improving game by game from my point of view and I think 10% more from every Chiefs player and we can come out on top,” Parker explains.

He adds: “Every supporter who is associated with us expects a win and nothing else and we are looking forward to win this weekend so when we go to the Telkom Knockout the next weekend the bragging rights would be on our side. Mentally, it would favour us going into the next Derby. I’m definitely confident that it’s gonna be an entertaining game and I pray and hope that we get goals.”
