Amakhosi had goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma, defenders Ramahlwe Mphalele and Siyabonga Ngezana, midfielders Siphelele Ntshangase, Willard Katsande and Philani Zulu and striker Gustavo Paez on the bench.
Coach Ernst Middendorp brought on Zulu at the start of the second half for Happy Mashiane, while Katsande and came on for Leonardo Castro after Amakhosi had taken the lead from the penalty spot through central defender Daniel Cardoso.
Not long after Pirates equalised through Theminkosi Lorch, right back Mphahlele a clear sign that he wanted to protect the one goal lead
“There were no game changers [on the bench]. Did they bring on Katsande because they did not have anybody else? There’s a question mark on bringing Mphahlele in,” Radebe says.
The Bafana Bafana legend was impressed with Zimbabwean duo Khama Billiat and Teenage Hadebe, but expected more from Pule Ekstein in the middle of the park.
“I was expecting more from Ekstein. I know he is that kind of player that can take players on, be involved and give passes and create opportunities for the strikers. I was impressed with Hadebe and Khama Billiat.”
