Pirates will clash with arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium for the first competitive derby of the 2016/17 season, with expectations high from both sets of fans.
Having been on the other end of this blockbuster clash, during his tenure at Naturena, Ertugral says it's something special and unique to be on the other end and hopes he can now fulfill the demands of the Buccaneers.
"It's interesting, I don't know how many coaches have achieved that. Obviously, for me, it's great to have this opportunity to be also on teh other side," he told reporters in the build-up to the match on Thursday.
"I've been with Chiefs twice and won so many trophies with them, and hopefully I can fulfill the demands the expectations at the helm.
"It's obviously interesting, but football is not about history. History is there and it's important to have a big history, but in the end of the day football is about today and tomorrow.
"So the result on the weekend is more important than anything else."
When it comes to this clash of the two most successful and most loved and supported Soweto clubs, it is no surprise that the day has many sitting at the edge of their seats in anticipation of what the outcome will be.
Ertugral, who is also familiar with another one of the world's biggest derbies between Galatasary and Fenerbahce in his native Turkey, says it is their responsibility as the teams to live up to the expectations of the fans.
"Looking at the magnitude of the Soweto Derby, coming from Turkey – we also have one of the biggest derbies in teh world, if not in the top three, and being involved in South African football for so many years, I know the importance of it and what is expected from us," he adds.
"It's up to us to fulfill the expectations and play the type of football that everyone wants to see in this country, and create a spectacle.
"In fact, not only in South Africa but I hear it will be televised to 61 different countries so it's a fantastic thing to bring this game worldwide, and we hope that when it comes to the next derby that there's 121 live broadcasts."
Kick-off of the clash is scheduled for 15h00.
