Orlando Pirates defender Ayanda Gcaba hopes for first Soweto Derby win against Kaizer Chiefs

The 29-year-old joined the Buccaneers in 2012 from Free State Stars and he has played three times in the Derby with Kaizer Chiefs, winning two and the other ending as a draw when Gcaba featured.

Gcaba is expected to start against Chiefs having featured regularly for Pirates recently with six straight starts including the two CAF matches against Al Ahly in the Confederation Cup semis, and he tells snl24.com/kickoff he is in the right frame of mind ahead of the clash.

“I know I have played three times in the Derby and I haven’t got a win. I have to stay positive and talk to my teammates to fight as a team,” he says.

“We know it won’t be an easy game over the weekend and Chiefs know that their confidence is high but we have to get a result. We have to talk as players and see how we can fix what’s wrong. We are playing not so great football and we are not getting the right results. We know it is frustrating, but things will come right,” Gcaba adds.
