While the Buccaneers have fought their way through to the CAF Confederation Cup final, their domestic form has been sub-standard as they see themselves down in 13th place on the league standings, with just one win in seven outings.

On the other hand, Amakhosi have not been much different as they have managed just three wins in eight league matches, but sit higher up in fourth place with 14 points on the board.

However, Erasmus believes past results, statistics and odds have very little bearing on the outcome of one of the most watched football derbies on the African continent, and says it all comes down to the stronger side on the day.

“The Derby is a whole different ball game, I think,” Erasmus tells snl24.com/kickoff. “You can’t compare it to past results or past performances. It’s a whole new game and it’s all down to whose day it is.

“If it’s your day, it’s your day. No matter who you play for, Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs, if it’s meant to go your way then nothing will stand in your way.

“I think if your first touch on the ball is good then things could go your way, but at the end of the day its what you make of it.”

The diminutive 25-year-old believes if they can maintain the unity within the team they could get the better of the reigning league champions come Saturday.

“For me I don’t look too much into current form, and I’m sure as a team we’ll give it a go. And if we stick to this unity and team spirit we have then I’m sure we can come out collecting all three points.”
