Orlando Pirates' Thabo Matlaba prefers playing left-back following Soweto Derby switch

Pirates drew 1-1 with Chiefs, with Bucs coach Eric Tinkler opting to deploy Ayanda Gcaba at left-back at FNB Stadium.

"To be honest I prefer playing left-back, but if the coach decides to play me in the right-back I don't have a problem with that. It is part of the game plan," Matlaba says.

The Buccaneers next host Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday, and Matlaba has called on the team to repeat the efforts of their second-half display in the Soweto Derby.

"We are now taking it one game at a time. We are now focusing on the next match against Ajax Cape Town and we need to show the same performance we did in the second half against Chiefs.

"At half time we played a lot of long balls and we discussed that at the interval that we needed to play our normal game in the second half."
