It seems that Al Ahly star Percy Tau can no longer be considered 'The Lion of Judah' after revealing his new look, which has already gained quite a reaction from fellow players. Here's a look.
The story
It is thought that Tau was nicknamed 'Lion of Judah' reportedly due to his previously Afro-centric hairstyle which resembles a lion's mane. However, those days could perhaps be over, as the Bafana Bafana forward revealed that the he now gone for a completely different bald look.
The new haircut has already piqued the attention of AmaZulu defender and former Mamelodi Sundowns teammate Ramahlwe Mphahlele, who jokingly remarked that he will be referring to the Red Devils attacker by a new name because of his new look.
"Now your name is Bra Percy," Mphahlele commented on Tau's Instagram post. Meanwhile, other footballers, including David Okereke who played with the South African at Club Brugge.
It is probably the first time Tau has been seen bald-headed since breaking through at Sundowns and we hope that the new cut represents a fresh start to his injury-ridden career of late.
What's the latest on his future?
Following Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly exit in June, various reports suggested that Tau could follow his former Masandawana boss on his way out. While there were some reports linking the 28-year-old to a move back in Mzansi, nothing materialised and the Egyptian giants also made no indication of trying to offload the former Brighton Hove Albion star.
The ex-Anderlecht talisman now seems to be a part of the new Swiss manager Marcel Koller's plans in Cairo, having featured twice in the team's first three league games so far.
