After a tumultuous season in Ligue 1 that was called off with 10 games remaining in the season, Zungu returned to Mzansi during the national lockdown.
With the South Africa international expressing his desire to leave Amiens in the off-season, a return to spend time with friends and family to clear his mind ahead of an expected move was made a priority for the midfielder.
And it was no surprise to see him pictured with one of his closest friends, Themba Zwane, whom he shared telepathic midfield partnership with since first sharing a pitch together at Mamelodi Sundowns
The 27-year-old spent three seasons at Masandawana alongside Zwane before he earned his move to Vitoria Guimaraes but their bond has remained strong, having both still been an integral part of the Bafana Bafana set-up.
Clearly buoyed by his return home, Zungu posted an image dripped in his Givenchy hoody with 'Mshishi' after linking up and dubbed him 'the best midfielder in South Africa' which was well-received by his followers.
His 30-year-old former teammate was in outstanding form before the coronavirus enforced suspension of football with 12 goals and eight assists in 30 games as Masandawana challenged Kaizer Chiefs for the title.
Zungu and Zwane have a combined 41 senior national caps together.
Is there a midfielder in South Africa who is superior to Zwane based on displays in the 2019/20 season?
