Lebo Mothiba joins Itumeleng Khune in on the major lockdown new-look trend

A Bafana Bafana star has joined Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune with a dramatic new-look during the national lockdown.

The lockdown in South Africa recently saw Khune sport a 'Rick Ross' style beard that made waves on social media and all the way in France, compatriot Lebo Mothiba has transformed with an equally dramatic change.

With Racing Club Strasbourg posting images of their final training session, the 24-year-old was pictured with dreads, similar to that of former Bafana stars Siphiwe Tshabalala and Reneilwe Letsholonyane and MacBeth Sibaya in years gone by.

Mothiba, who's now enjoying an off-season break after the coronavirus pandemic ended the Ligue 1 season prematurely, helped RCS to a tenth-placed finish and ahead of next season.

Unique brand opportunity?

Having made the professional old-school tucked-in shirt one of his most distinguishable looks, the new rasta-style will surely make the tireless forward stand out amongst his peers further.

Dreads, which is traditionally symbolised as a disregard for physical appearance, has offered Mothiba a more menacing look but certainly appeals more than some of the rough changes of the football stars which can be seen in the gallery below.

The 14-time capped South Africa international has also wasted no time in branding the new-look on his social media pages with an animation in his national team kit now used on his official Twitter and Instagram account.

Did you know?

Mothiba is now part of the same agency as Romelu Lukaku?

Your thoughts, please?

Do you think the rasta-style suits South Africa's number 9?
