Royal AM coach Floyd Mogale dripping in Louis Vuitton towards DStv Premiership promotion

Royal Andile Mpisane was formed in October 2019 when Durban businesswoman and reality television star Shauwn Mkhize acquired Real Kings for her 19-year-old son.

Mpisane Jr has since been appointed as the youngest chairman in PSL history and rewarded the no.10 shirt by new head coach Floyd Mogale.

Mogale, who replaced their first-ever coach Michael Lukhubeni - one game into the season - had led them to an unlikely push to promotion. But his clothing choices, often noticed in their pitch-side reaction videos, have been a subject of interest by many on social media.

For a newly formed club in the second-tier of South African football, it's uncommon to see teams lavishly splashing the cash due to a nominal R500 000 monthly grant from the PSL to cover its expenses.

But Royal AM and their staff are clearly cut from a different cloth with the vast riches seeing Mogale in shirts and golfers ranging in prices between R8000 to R12000 regularly.

It's been reported that players also enjoy the riches of the flamboyant owners, with Mercedes team busses and designer bags used to carry their sportswear on matchdays.

Amongst the furor of the expensive taste of the club now just one point off league leaders Richards Bay, Mpisane was offered his league debut by Mogale for a late cameo.

The teenager who's also an upcoming Kwaito star took to social media last week to showcase his silky showboating skills in the final stages of their 3-1 win over Uthongathi.

Shared to over 200 000 followers on his official Instagram account, Mpisane and the club itself is setting up to become a sponsorship dream with interest brewing more after each game that passes.

Whether it's a publicity stunt, a club with longevity in the unpredictable climate of status sales in the PSL is up for debate. But right now, it's brought entertainment and much-needed attention to the second-tier of South African football.

Shauwn Mkhize owned Royal Eagles last season with her ex-husband before their divorce.

Breath of fresh air to South African football or mockery of professional sports?
