Highly-rated Olwethu Makhanya has penned an emotional farewell to DStv Premiership side Stellenbosch as he completes a blockbuster move to the MLS in the US to Philadelphia Union.
Stellies announced on Tuesday that Makhanya has completed a move to the United States, following in the footsteps of Njabulo Blom, Bongokuhle Hlongwane.

The 19-year-old was one of the breakout stars of the 22/23 season, making 29 appearances for Stellies across all competitions and even getting on the on the scoresheet on one occasion.

Makhanya was also voted the Nedbank Cup's Most Promising Player of the Season and has been heavily linked with a move away from the winelands.
"I would like to thank @stellenbosch_fc for the opportunity they gave me and the great confidence that was shown in me," the defender wrote on Instagram.
"It is with mixed emotions that I bid farewell to the team. I have enjoyed working with you all and have made many fond memories during my time here. An incredible team that will forever remain in my heart, where everyone received me as a family member, showed me love, helped me grow as a player and especially as a person.
"I'm very lucky to have been part of not just a great team but great human beings with huge hearts.
"It is with great pride that I have accepted a new challenge and as I leave the club. I would like to wish the team and everyone all the best in the next seasons.
