That the name Iqraam Rayners will feature in discussions relating to the selection of the best player in the DStv Premiership this season is without doubt.
Rayners has scored 14 league goals (plus two in the cups) and is in contention for the top scorer award, which explains why he is even in the latest Bafana Bafana squad to play Nigeria and Zimbabwe next month.

All this he has done playing for Stellenbosch FC and not any of the top two performing traditional giants, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, who always get all the attention.
The 28-year-old is from a background of poverty on the Cape Flats but has made good his break in football having come through Santos.
"I was thought of as being crazy to bring him in at Santos as a teenager back then after coming from the development," says Farouk Abrahams, who was the head coach at Santos when Rayners got his break in the NFD during the 2014/15 season.
"He had so much going on for him ability-wise, so he was old enough to play back then and it is no surprise that he is where he is now.

"I'm glad his progress has shot him to Bafana Bafana and [he] has been able to keep a calm head on his shoulders.
"What I love is that while being streetwise on the field, he is level-headed off the pitch and no party animal.
"In my opinion, he should be the Player of the Season because he has done the business against all odds considering where he comes from.
"He is not playing for Sundowns, who are guaranteed of the title but must put in extra work at Stellies.
"The boy deserves credit for putting himself in the same sentence as Teboho Mokoena and Ronwen Williams, who will be favoured to win the award," says Abrahams.
Rayners' former boss, Goolam Allie, also shares his admiration for the Stellenbosch forward.
"He is from an underprivileged background in Mitchell's Plain and I love that he has kept his head in the right frame in his life," Goolam Allie, the Santos chairman, tells KickOff.com.
"It is not every day that you get players like him in South Africa who are able to remain calm, consistent, humble, and a role model for players.
"There is no doubt that he always had the quality and has kept his cool.
"His mind is strong and that is shown in the fact that besides being from a difficult environment, he was able to adapt to all positions while with us.
"His attitude has always been excellent and [he] is very focused.

"I think he is also a coach's dream and has been helped by where he has been since the time he was with us.
"It is not by accident that he has achieved what he has now being the dedicated person that he is.
"He is one of a few South African strikers that has been able to do the business of scoring goals consistently," says Allie.
