Skelem resurfaces at former club

Free agent Leletu Skelem has resurfaced at his former club Stellenbosch FC as he continues his search for new employment.

Skelem has been struggling to find a club since parting ways with Maritzburg United.

The 25-year-old right-winger and former South Africa Under-23 international left the Stellies for the Team of Choice in 2021.

In his first season at Maritzburg, he made 20 appearances, scored one goal, and provided one assist.

He struggled in his second season as he could only make eight appearances.

Skelem has endured a frustrating spell on the sidelines since parting ways with the KwaZulu Natal club.

He played his best football at Stellenbosch under Steve Barker where he played a total of 45 matches in all competitions in the top tier.

In the 2018/19 Season, he was with the Cape Town-based club in the National First Division where he made 27 appearances.

Skelem is said to be working tirelessly at Stellenbosch as he hopes to impress the technical team.

"As you are aware I've left Maritzburg United, at the moment I'm training with Stellenbosch," Skelem tells KickOff.

"They have told me I can train with them just to keep fit for anything that might come up. But who knows (laughs)."

Stellenbosch currently has Antonio Van Wyk, Devin Titus and Salifu Colley in the right-wing position.
