Barker: First time I've had three penalties in one game

Stellenbosch head coach Steve Barker has reflected on conceding three goals from penalties against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday afternoon.

Stellies suffered a 3-1 defeat to Chiefs at the DHL Stadium, with all the goals scored by Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana from the penalty spot.

Barker, who recently extended his stay with Stellies, says giving away three penalties was a first for him.

"Ja, obviously the scoreline three goals conceded is not what we want to do but unfortunately sometimes the decisions change the course of games," Barker told SuperSport TV.

"I haven't had the privilege of seeing the three penalties, I think it's the first in my life that I've had three penalties in one game.

"Especially the first one, instead of going to halftime at 1-0, you're going at 1-1 but ja generally we we didn't start the game really well," he said.

"They had a couple of good chances in the first five, ten minute, I thought the game settled thereafter and ja we then got the goal, deserved, I thought our press was good.

"In that moment to get the goal but then ja we conceded, then later on in the game yoou get a red-card and a penalty, I don't know what the rules states inside the box.

"You get a red I know when it's a really intentional, dangerous tackle yes but De Goede tried to get to the ball, he's still got the keeper to beat so, three penalties, down to ten men, tough day."
