Stellies will quietly feel inspired to emulate these clubs having moved from being a bottom half club in their first two seasons into the top six in the last three.
"It is important for us to focus on what we do and focus on each competition separately," says Barker whose team is in the final of the MTN8 and won the Carling Cup last season.
"I don't think one can think too far ahead because the challenge that is ahead is the one that you need to be focusing on.
"We have the CAF game against AS Vita and then start the league campaign against (Golden) Arrows.
"It is about focusing on the next task at hand.
"As a club and as footballers and coaches the league is always the ultimate prize.
"It is always nice to win the cup competitions, but the league is the ultimate prize that you want to win.
"We are going into the season with a positive mindset and attitude and will take it one game at a time.
"It is important for us to get off to a good start, we got to 50 points last season so if we can improve on that then I believe that the consistency that we were building will one day lay the foundation to have a real go at winning the league.
"We are going in wanting to focus on each game.

"With quality teams like Sundowns you can beat them in once off games but over 30 games it is a different ball game.
"There is no reason not to believe that we are a club that is on the rise, and we have to start dreaming bigger and challenging to win the Betway Premiership," says Barker.
