Mahachi – who most recently played for SuperSport United but has also featured for Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Golden Arrows – has been back home in Bulawayo facing the courts on charges of child abuse and attempted murder.

Mahachi was acquitted at the Tredgold Magistrates Court in Bulawayo on Friday after the State failed to prove essential elements of the case with evidence given by witnesses disjointed and contradictory.
The 29-year-old has now released a hard-hitting statement on his social media account.
"On Friday the 25th of November, after 7 months I was acquitted on 2 very serious criminal allegations of attempted murder and child abuse," reads the statement.

"During these 7 months, I saw my whole world turn upside down.
"I was dismissed from my club with immediate effect and no income, I was vilified by a nation that I once was the football darling of my fate was sealed through social media without a trial.
"During these 7 months, I lost everything I lived for. 7 months of being shunned even by those that I played alongside, 7 months of death threats, 7 months of depression, the list can go on.
"My son, Diego was a victim of negligence at the hands of family members who were meant to look after him at my home in Bulawayo.
"Diego was diagnosed with Ulcer Sepsis Necrotic (the so called 'flesh eating disease', which is rare but serious infection," he says detailing events that led to his son being amputated due to gross negligence at the hands of his sisters.
"I am not just a broken man. I am a pained man by what happened to my won and how I was accused of attempting to kill him despite reports from medical experts.
"No one cared to give me a chance, no one cared to give me the benefit of doubt.
"I was accused of using my 4-year-old son for rituals," he continues while also revealing the toxic relationship with Diego's mother, who is now his ex who swore to destroy him and demanded R2,5 million after he stopped paying maintenance after paternity tests revealed he was a father to only one (Diego) of three kids that were in question.
One of the kids – Deneo – passed away.
"I have lost everything I worked for.
"All my savings have been depleted in my quest for justice.
"Yes, I have been exonerated but the nightmare I have gone through can never be erased.
"I have had my mother's grave destroyed, my house has been broken into and robbed of everything…I can only pray someone out there is willing to take a chance on me, so I can go back to playing the sport that I love and finish my career without this torrid time being how I exit the beautiful game of football," he notes.

Mahachi last played competitive football in mid-February while with SuperSport who then suspended him in May – subject to judicial processes – after allegations on the matter surfaced.
His contract was then not renewed upon its expiry at the end of June.
