Grobler: Mbesuma record will not be broken this season

SuperSport United striker Bradley Grobler says the 25-goal record set by Collins Mbesuma in the 2004/2005 season will not be broken this campaign.

Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile currently leads the golden boot race with 11 goals, with Grobler second with 10 goals.

"No, I think if we've been realistic, I think nobody is going to get to 25 goals this season," Grobler tells KickOff.

"I think that's not realistic. Maybe for next season, we can try again, but the goals this season haven't been that high.

"It's not a good thing but it is what it is. So ja I don't think that record will be broken this season.

"As for winning it anything can still happen in six games, it's very interesting and I think it's good.

"I'm planning to take it one game at a time, to be honest. Obviously, everyone wants to win it so it will be interesting now with the last few games.

"I will try to play it on the field and try to score some goals to help the team pick up points.

"I won't say he gives me sleepless nights Shalulile but he is unbelievably a good player Shalulile.

"It's also good to have a local youngster in Cassius Mailula, I think he's had an unbelievable season.

"Obviously Monnapule Saleng [Eight goals] had an unbelievable season as well.

"It's going to be very interesting you know getting into the last two games.

"It's difficult to say if he is going to be caught Shalulile but one would like to catch him and make it interesting, obviously the league needs more goals.

"But like I said for me the most important thing is to pick up points. We want to finish second and obviously scoring goals might help in that regard."
