Hunt explains Chiefs target's ongoing absence

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has revealed the reason for defender Luke Fleurs' ongoing absence from his starting line-up.

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs approached SuperSport United for duo Thatayaone Dithlokwe and Fleurs during the January transfer window.

A disagreement in negotiations reportedly saw Amakhosi succeeding in completing the signature of just Dithlokwe on a pre-contract agreement.

The 22-year-old has made 56 appearances for Matsatsantsa since joining in the 2018/19 season.

"Luke Fleurs is out injured, it's a knee injury," Hunt tells KickOff.

"What happened is he hurt his knee in a game a couple of weeks ago.

"I don't know exactly when we can expect to have him back.

"You never know with these things, you know, he hurt his knee that's all."

SuperSport United are believed to have acted quickly and tied down Mitchell's Plein-born star.

SuperSport are said to have extended Fleurs' contract with another three years amid interest from Kaizer Chiefs.
