'I didn't believe we had a chance' SuperSport reveals details on Dzvukamanja transfer

Club CEO Stan Matthews has revealed how SuperSport United pulled off one of the signings of the transfer window so far by acquiring striker Terrence Dzvukamanja from under the nose of Orlando Pirates.

Dzvukamanja joined Gavin Hunt's SuperSport side following an impressive campaign for the Buccaneers last season to lift the Nedbank Cup and MTN8.

The Zimbabwean striker scored a sensational last-minute winner as Pirates defeated Sekhukhune United in the Netbank Cup final.

"I was asked if I was prepared to make an offer for Terrence by his agent," Matthews said.

"I indicated I would be prepared to make an offer, while indicating what the maximum offer I would be able to make was.

"It was unexpected, but a big signing for us, as he is a player that Gavin knows well and loves.

"He's a guy who enjoyed an excellent second half of the season, last year.

"We tried to sign him in January, but Pirates rejected the offer and after he did all he did for them, I really didn't believe we had a chance to sign him."

Matsatsantsa are set to host Richards Bay FC in their opening DStv Premiership clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on August 5.
