September explains Rayners turnaround after leaving SuperSport

SuperSport United legend and former captain Thabo September has shared what he thinks are the reasons Iqraam Rayners has started scoring again now that he has re-joined Stellenbosch FC.

In the 14 league matches he played for United this season before his move to Stellenbosch, Rayners failed to score even a single goal. Though he managed to provide five assists.

But since returning to the Stellies in January the striker has found his scoring boots again scoring 11 times already for them in all competitions and has also provided two assists in nine matches.

"I don't think he failed at SuperSport it's just that sometimes there's a team you feel comfortable in terms of scoring and been around the home," September tells KickOff.

"Stellenbosch it's where he is comfortable, he didn't fail with us he just struggled.

"But he did do well in terms of assists and stuff, it's just that things were not happening in terms of scoring goals like he is doing now at Stellenbosch.

"Possibly it could be that he couldn't settle in Gauteng or any other elements. Steve Barker knows him, maybe he performs better in Stellenbosch colours, but failing no he didn't fail.

"He tried his best I think and he just didn't excel. The pressure at SuperSport and Stellenbosch I think it's more or less the same. And it had nothing to do with the two teams' style of play.

"We spoke a lot of times while he was here, and he was always happy. He tried his best.

"When things come together for a football player they really do, look at how well he is doing now at Stellenbosch."
