SuperSport reveal Saudi interest in midfield star

DStv Premiership side SuperSport United have sensationally revealed it has received interest from Saudi Arabia in a midfield star as several world renowned footballers complete lucrative transfers to the region.

Soon after his transfer switch to SuperSport from Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns, Grant Margerman is reported to have received strong interest from an unnamed side in Saudi Arabia.

Margeman on Tuesday secured a transfer to SuperSport on a three-year deal from Sundowns after the Cape Town-born midfielder spent a successful loan spell with Gavin Hunt's side last season.

Club CEO Stan Matthews revealed that SuperSport turned down a lucrative offer from an unnamed Saudi team.

"We have gained Grant outright and I think he is one of the most exciting young midfielders in South African football at the moment," Matthews tells KickOff.

"We have secured him out right now. Firstly, he can play against Sundowns, which is nice, to be our asset which is exciting for us.

"I haven't even signed Grant for a week and already we've received interest from Saudi Arabia for him.

"So from us, he is a commodity that is at the peak of his powers at 26 years old.

"We are really looking forward for him to now kick on in his career and become a regular Bafana Bafana player.

"We also believe he will be a great asset for the club."
