In the latest edition of My Locker Room Secrets, former Moroka Swallows captain Lefa Tsutsulupa reveals the behind-the-scenes details inside the Dube Birds change room.
The retired 43-year-old, who also played for Jomo Cosmos and Bloemfontein Celtic, lifted the MTN8 Cup in 2012 with Swallows.
Whose locker room are we in today?
"Lefa Tsutsulupa"
Who was always late?
"No one. I think that the guys we had respected their jobs. There will be days when individuals will be stuck in traffic.
"We were coached by Zeca Marques, Julio Leal...even with Gordon Igesund, there are no latecomers.
"We are in Joburg, so traffic has always been an issue.
"So, if Siyabonga Nomvethe is late this week, next week it will be me and the following one, it will be somebody else."
Any interesting ritual before you played?
"Preparation was my ritual. I didn't go to the game unprepared. Whatever I did was more geared to preparation."
Who was the jokester?
"Lerato Chabangu. He had a friendly personality, so he was always on everybody's case. Obviously, he understood how to approach different players.
"He would hide the captain's armband behind the match, and I will just have to look for it.
"He would steal your energy drink tin, gulp whatever is inside and just put water inside it."
Was it a muti change room?
"In football, there's always been muti in the change room whether in a player's perspective, or team's perspective. In all the teams that I've played for. Even in the national team."
Who was the singer?
"Papi Mngomezulu, Lerato Chabangu, Dukuduku."
Who was the best dressed and worst dressed?
"We didn't have enough money at Swallows (laughs). There were no over-the-top dressers, but we were more presentable.
"The guys that came from Pirates, Chiefs, Sundowns, they brought that to the team.
"For his first training session with us, I remember Papi came wearing a shirt and a jacket, pants and pointed shoes.
"The rest were more laid-back players, even though they looked presentable in their jeans and t-shirts.
"As for the worst dresser, no guys, Bhele Nomvethe can't dress. He would have a tracksuit with a shirt."
Rate the coach's team talk
"Gordon Igesund's pre-match talks were more of a motivational nature and he didn't rely on videos.
"He had a funny way of getting into a player's mindset and made them believe they were the best since the sliced bread, even though as players we knew that some of our teammates were cows."
