In this edition of Supporters Forum, KickOff speaks to Moroka Swallows die-hard supporter Bafana Malekutu about his long-standing affair with the Dube Birds.
"Congo" as he is known in the football circles, reveals all the club's management shortfalls according to his point of view.
Name of supporter?
"My name is Bafana "Congo" Malekutu, I'm residing in Kagiso, and presently I'm working as a security guard.
"I grew up in the dusty streets of Kagiso, where I used to play soccer. I used to play as a striker.
"That's where I was nicknamed Congo, after the former Swallows player Cedrick "Congo" Malebane."
Club supported?
"I have never supported any other club besides Moroka Swallows."
How long supported?
"I started supporting Swallows at a very young age, I was about seven to eight years old.
"Presently I'm 50 years old, I was born in 1974."
Are you happy with the Swallows bosses?
"At this point, I'm not happy with the way the management is running the team. They are not involving us as supporters.
"There are no meetings where supporters can engage them and find solutions and ways forward.
"In stadiums after the final whistle has blown, we always call everybody, including the players, to come and sing or dance with us... but the management always runs away.
"What keeps me going as a Swallows fan is the loyalty I have towards the team. Regardless of the circumstances, we cannot desert the team, no matter how the management treats us as supporters.
"Maybe a good Samaritan can come and save us because Swallows management always comes and goes."
Are you happy with the coach?
"So far, I'm happy with Musa Nyatama. If you can remember two seasons ago when he took over on an interim basis, he put us in position eight.
"From the beginning, the current management should not have appointed Steve Komphela and demoted Nyatama. I'm happy with Musa Nyatama.
"Hiring Komphela was a mistake, he didn't even make so much impact."
Are you happy with the players?
"Most of our players were fired due to the illegal strike. The team still needs some beefing up.
"We need to get the midfielders, we need to get the strikers, we need to get players who are hungry for goals. We need players who understand what the name Moroka Swallows means, players who know the history."
Who do you want them to sign?
"Presently we need a striker, midfielder and two defenders, [then] we will be fine. We must also strengthen the goalkeeping department."
Your message to the team?
"I would like to make a plea to the present management, which is Mr. David Mogashoa, will you please involve the supporters in everything. We need to know how the supporters' membership [registration] is going."
