Supporters Forum: Moroka Swallows fan Rasta

In this edition of Supporters Forum, KickOff catches up with Moroka Swallows die-hard supporter Thomas "Rasta" Mokhari about his long-standing affair with the former Soweto Giants.

Rasta warns the club's playing personnel about the dangers of being involved in strikes that might harm their future.

Name of supporter?

"My full name is Thomas Mokhari, I was born in the Limpopo province but grew up in Gauteng, in Pimville to be exact, in Zone 6.

"I'm currently not working since I'm already a pensioner. I'm also part of the local Community Policing Forum.

"People call me Rasta because of my dreadlocks, and I'm also a big follower of the Rastafarian religion."

Clubs supported

"I have never supported any other team besides Moroka Swallows. I have been a fan since 1965, I was following my father who was a big follower. That's how Swallows became my half-brother."

Are you happy with the bosses?

"We struggled together with our former owner the late David Chabeli, we knew the club didn't have money. Chabeli used to eat Swallows money but players would still got paid.

"Even the other Swallows owners who took over after him paid the players. Things started to fall apart when we got relegated.

"Our current chairman is very arrogant. Now he is not paying the players. He rules with an iron fist he is not listening to anyone, forgetting he once made us buy shares there, which means we are also shareholders.

"So I'm not happy with the Bosses. They should allow us as the supporters and the public to donate to the club's bank account."

Are you happy with the coach?

"I'm happy with Musa Nyatama although asese wumafundane [ he still a beginner]. He has shown he can handle this team, even though I wanted him to learn as much as he can from Steve Komphela."

Are you happy with the players?

"Let's just persevere until the end of the current season, let's keep them until the end of the season. We have lots of has-beens and Mr. Know It All in our team, which makes wonder why did they fail wherever they came if they were so smart? You are nothing if you don't respect your coach and members of the technical team."

Who do you want them to sign?

"Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo. That's my favorite player. I love him so much even though he is an Orlando Pirates player.

"To me, he is the best midfielder in the country."

Your message to the team?

"You didn't come here for a picnic. You are here to work for your families. Leave out all the politics because they will only destroy your careers, being involved in strikes and politics can only make your future employers not to touch you."
