What Happened?

Whenever teams release new kits, it often creates a social frenzy where fans compare their new strips to previous campaigns while they also banter other teams about whose kit is better.

Mamelodi Sundowns

The reigning champions and PUMA have collaborated to release their new kits which is inspired by a bold message directed at their fiercest opponents: We Rise Again.

The kit features a debossed African print of calabashes, antelope, drums, pyramids and warriors. This will be seemingly reinforced by a map of Africa sitting beside MSFC printed on the back of the neckline.

The shirt also features a CAF Champions League star on the front of the shirt representing the 2016 CCL win, while the green and white design of the Home shirt sleeve is inspired by the team's Chloorkop training ground, the roots of Sundowns' continued success.

Orlando Pirates

Last week, the Soweto giants have finally dropped their new shirt as the club celebrates 85 years.

The new Adidas home kit keeps the traditional look of the club, black but added the silver accents and logos and the red trim on the collar and cuffs along with a fine striping pattern covering the front and sleeves.

The away kit is also a throwback to the tradition of the legendary club as they went with a sublime white shirt.

Both teams have collaborated with their kit sponsors to take the shirt to the next level and all eyes will be on the two sides when they face off on the 31 December 2022.

Did you know?

Dr. Patrice Motsepe bought into Sundowns in 2003 to partner the Tsichlas. He increased his stake from 51% to 100% in 2004 and renamed the club 'Mamelodi' Sundowns.

Your thoughts, please?

Which kit was better?
