And whilst fans were expecting his Instagram announcement on Monday to involve further clarity on his contract situation at the reigning Absa Premiership champions, he confirmed that he's now 'taken over' the account.

Popularity to skyrocket further?

Over the past eight years since taking over as Sundowns head coach, the 55-year-old has become one of the most recognised figures in South African football and Africa as a whole - due to his exploits on the continent.

In North Africa over the past 12 months, more notably in Morocco, rival fans have sung the name of the Masandawana boss and with the promise of more inside content from the man himself, his reputation is likely to improve further.
