Chelsea, Nike unveil new 2019/20 away kit

The Blues recently experienced a change of manager, with club legend Frank Lampard being appointed as Maurizio Sarri's successor after the former Napoli boss took over the reins at Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus.

The Stamford Bridge club took to its official social media accounts to unveil their new kit, which is primarily white, with blue and red trimming on the sleeves.

Lampard's charges have commenced with their pre-season tour of Japan, and are set to debut their new away kit when they do duty against J-League outfit Kawasaki Frontale in Yokohama on Friday, 19 July.

Embedded on the buttons and within the shirt is the inscription "Pride of London", with the predominantly white kit featuring blue socks, which has a white-red-white stripe midway up the calf, as per Nike.com

Nike senior design director Pete Hoppins had his say on the strip, insisting that the new kit "will make the players feel super sharp when playing on the road".

"The concept we came up with is a homage to the Mods of 1960s London and their sharp style," he said via the club's official website.

"It really comes together through this iconic white polo, finished off with red and blue stripes from Chelsea's heritage.

"We feel this kit will make the players feel super sharp when playing on the road."

Premier League fans will be able to get a taste of Chelsea's new away kit for the first time on matchday one of the new season, when the Blues take on Manchester United on Sunday, 11 August.
