Together with his sponsors Puma, Tau donated soccer kit to Mmagobana Combined School and they will be looking to fix the playing field. Tau, now a star for outgoing African champions Sundowns, was born in Witbank and says the school holds a special place in his heart.
"What motivated me is that I was in this school and it has a special place in my heart. We brought in jerseys for both girls and boys. We also brought soccer balls and other training equipment and we will also be looking to fix the fields," said Tau, who founded the Percy Tau Legacy Foundation.
"There are a lot of things we are looking to do. I am glad Puma came and helped to give the kits and the balls. Coca Cola are also looking to give us bags for the 600 kids. We are grateful that they will come in and help us. We are still coming back [to the school] because there is so many things to do. This is where I come from."
Going forward, Tau would love to donate computers to help develop leaders of tomorrow.
"The other things I would love to do is bring computers. I want to contribute so that we get better people; the next Percy Taus, actors, presidents. We will see what we can get out of this," said Tau.
"We are looking to give back to people, especially in areas where we feel we can add value, through education and sport."
