Ole Gunnar Solskjaer endured a topsy-turvy finish to the end of 2018/19 season at the helm of the Old Trafford club, with the Red Devils missing out on a UEFA Champions League spot.

The Norwegian mentor initially took over the reins from Jose Mourinho as caretaker coach in December 2018, and was subsequently made the permanent manager of the club, penning a three-year deal in March after a great run of results.

United and kits sponsor adidas have now opted for an unprecedented amendment from their usual colours, with the club's new away strip being beige in colour, and described by adidas as "savannah" in appearance.

The Red Devils took to their official social media accounts to reveal the kit, which will be worn for the first time on Saturday, in United's pre-season friendly against Perth Glory in Australia.

"Breaking away from the traditional colours of a United away jersey, the new shirt features a fresh savannah-toned aesthetic and intricate patterned design, that takes its inspiration from the many mosaics that adorn the streets of Manchester's creative district, the Northern Quarter," a statement on the club's official website read.

"Standing out with a new colour palette, the striking new away shirt continues to blur the lines between sport and style, blending both cultures into a single piece of design, which will, of course, be seen during our away trips in 2019/20.

"Influenced by the unique artwork of the Northern Quarter, the city is embedded deep within the design as the base colour is overlaid with a subtle pattern."
