PSL goalkeepers such as Moeneeb Josephs and Siyabonga Mbatha are wearing the same goalkeeping gloves as players in the townships.
The brand of gloves is called Unozinti, and the company's managing director Mark Vorster talks to snl24.com/kickoff about how he started this niche business.

Vorster played for Moroka Swallows in 1995 but his football career was cut short in 2000 after he had a motorcycle accident.
At the time he was busy with the late Eddie Lewis and Owen Da Gama at Silver Stars, which later became Platinum Stars. In 2010 he switched to the Veterans League, playing for Marks Park.
In 2014 the Honeydew-based Vorster started developing goalkeepers gloves, which have now turned into a company called Unozinti.

Vorster explains how the idea of Unozinti, meaning 'Goalkeeper', came about.
"I had just noticed that the goalkeeper gloves were very difficult to get hold of, especially the correct size," he says.
"So I thought of developing gloves for the local conditions. For 2019 the gloves are called Ilanga, another glove is Umoya, Khaya... Ilanga is the yellow one. We've got Khaya which is the black one, Mamba which is a green one, Umoya is the blue one, the red ones is Legacy... and we are introducing the pink gloves now which are called Asisukume, which means 'get up'. They are just different colours.

"What I've done is I've kept the same glove that somebody will play with in the LFA, in the township somewhere on a Saturday morning. It's the same glove that is being worn by Patrick Tignyemb, Moeneeb Josephs, Siyabonga Mbatha, George Chigova... those guys I sponsor.
"So I'm trying to make it affordable for everybody, but at the same time the quality is exactly the same. They are gloves of the highest quality, and accessible to everybody.
"The product is manufactured in Pakistan, the material is the same as the top brands. We did [the printing of] the goalkeepers' names in Pakistan. And I also sponsor a lot of tournaments in the townships.

"We don't go into stores, because the stores drive the price up, the price doubles. So we try to get it online, that's why we have about 89 000 followers on Facebook. Ja it's a very huge market, but it's very difficult to compete with the big brands."
Unozinti gloves are R650 per pair.
