Baroka FC have confirmed Wesson Nyirenda as their new coach for the upcoming season

The club confirmed to snl24.com/kickoff that they would announce Nyirenda as their new coach this week and they presented him to media at a press conference today.

Nyirenda will be assisted by Fani Mthethwa and the goalkeeper coach will be Thomas 'Spaghetti' Mare.

Baroka had Kgoloko Thobejane as their coach at the start of last season, but parted ways with him after it was alleged that he was drinking on the job, following a match against Free State Stars.

Assistant coach MacDonald Makhubedu took over as interim coach and was expected to be in the position until the end of the season, but that was not the case as management asked him to step aside so that technical director Doctor Khumalo could take charge of the last two matches.

Nyirenda, who has worked for Zambian giants Zesco United and Zanaco, comes with a wealth of experience, having coached in some major competitions on the continent.

Baroka will be hoping that the former Kaizer Chiefs striker ensures that they stay clear of the relegation battle this time round.
