Black Leopards confident that they won't lose striker Mwape Musonda

It is not yet clear when the Zambian's contract is coming to an end but according to a reliable source close to the player, it ends in less than four months.

The Limpopo club is said to have commenced negotiations with midfielder Lehlogonolo Masalesa, who joined on a short-term deal in January, while the likes of Phathusedzo Nange and Marks Munyai have already penned pre-contracts elsewhere.

"Most of the players, their contracts are ending in June so none will stay I think," the source tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I think he will leave, his contract is expiring but I'm not sure. He signed three years when he arrived and three years is ending in June... about five players I think."

Musonda, who arrived at Leopards in 2016, finished last season as the joint-top goalscorer in the National First Division and is currently leading the Absa Premiership scoring charts with 12 league goals.

"There is no such," club official Tshifiwa 'Chief' Thidiela replied when asked if the player's stay at Lidoda Duvha was about to come to an end.

"Talk to Elijah [Mulaudzi, the team manager], he will tell you in detail. We are not new in football. You know all our players we negotiate our contracts a year before or in advance for the next coming season, we have already planned who we want.

"Also Musonda is not being a top goalscorer for the first time, he was also a top goalscorer last year in the NFD. But now people feel that because he is a top goalscorer, he has scored, and he must be playing for Sundowns or must be playing for Chiefs or Pirates... besides, do you know that he has been to Pirates already?

"And it's not necessary that if he moves then it means he is going to score goals, I mean how many people have to settle first? Because when you move you must think about all those things."

Mulaudzi could not be reached on his phone after numerous attempts.
