Bloemfontein Celtic explain Veselin Jelusic's departure

As reported by snl24.com/kickoff, Jelusic last week officially tendered his resignation from Phunya Sele Sele.

The Serbian tactician spent just one season at the Free State-based outfit, guiding them to within just one point of the top eight, but has decided to move on with his career.

Konco has since issued a statement on the coach’s departure, after earlier denying speculation that he had resigned due to non-payment, and says the club took a calculated decision to allow him to leave despite a binding contract of a further season being in place.

“Notwithstanding is a legally binding contract that the team can impose to keep the coach for another season or so, however, we deemed it appropriate to cordially agree to his request and let him go,” Konco told his club’s website.

“As much as we would have loved to keep him, it will be against our policy to try and force him to stay.

“After deliberations, and [considering] the professional approach by the coach’s representatives towards the matter, we collectively agreed to release him from his contractual obligation with immediate effect.”

Meanwhile, Konco stressed that Jelusic had a positive impact during his time at the helm, and further wished the former Botswana national team mentor well in his future.

“It is worth mentioning though, that Jelusic brought an indescribable spirit of unity and absolute allure into the team,” he added.

“His proficient conduct and utter commitment towards his job is what kept the team going and we respect him for that. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours.”

According to his representative, Jelusic has already attracted interest from elsewhere in the PSL and on the continent, with the coach keen on pursuing opportunities on this end of the globe.
