The 19-year-old winger’s exit was prompted at the club, formerly known as Al Assiouty Sport, by a takeover by Saudi Arabia Sport Authority chairman Turk Al-Sheikh, who has big plans for the side and has already invested millions of dollars on new players.
City leapt at the opportunity to snap up Links upon hearing of his availability, beating suitors both locally and elsewhere in Egypt, and have since handed the attacker a five-year deal.
The Phokeng-born attacker made his senior international debut during the recent COSAFA Cup held in Polokwane, where Bafana finished as Plate winners.
He managed 12 Egyptian Premier League appearances and one Egyptian Cup appearance last season, following his arrival in January.
